Family Lounge is a Break

from the Bedside

When your child is hospitalized, it can

seem like thewholeworld stops. As the

hours sometimes turn to days, time spent

worrying at the bedside can be

overwhelming and exhausting. A change

of scenery canmake aworld

of difference.

Thanks to a $35,000 gift from theCarzN’

Toyz organization, the lobby of theMarvin

Samson Foundation Pediatrics and

Pediatric IntensiveCareUnits at Virtua

Voorhees was transformed into a special

Family Lounge.

This space gives patients a chance to

forget about the stress of being in the

hospital for a bit and experience amore

normal environment where they can

spend timewith their parents and siblings.

Computer stations, comfortable furniture,

toys, books, and a giant Teddy Bear make

the refurbished space warmand

functional. Families can utilize the space to

sharemeals together or visit with guests

away from the bedside.

CarzN’ Toyz is a dedicatedVirtua

Foundation community partner and has

raised $55,000 to support the child life

programs at Virtua. The organization’s

mission is to bring smiles to the faces of

hospitalized children.

Thank you Spirit Halloween!

Virtua’s Child Life Program is expanding thanks the success of Spirit Halloween’s annual

Spirit of Children fundraising campaign. Customers at area stores used the “10 For 10”

coupon to have 10 percent of their purchase donated to Virtua Foundation this season.

Since 2011, the costume superstore has raisedmore than $200,000 for Virtua’s Child Life

Program through this seasonal campaign. Spirit’s giftwill be used to add a child life

specialist to the staff at Virtua, to ensure even greater support for pediatric patients and

their families at VirtuaMemorial and Virtua Voorhees in the pediatric emergency

departments, pediatric imaging, and the inpatient units.
