“We help families begin the grieving process by makingmemories in the very short

time they have with their babies, with hopes of turning a very negative experience into

a caring, loving time with their babies,” said Coyle. “Our newprogram reaches out

beyond the parents and educates everyone involved in their care.”

Coyle is a former NICU nurse who led HOPING, a support group for families who

experience a loss, for more than a decade. She was instrumental in establishing the

Angel Garden at Virtua Voorhees, a memorial for babies who have passed away.

“The support group, the Angel Garden and all of the tools Virtua has provided us to

helpwith our grief - if they weren’t here, I don’t know that I would be,” said Jill Nixon.

The Angel Garden at Virtua Voorhees is a healing place for families

who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or an infant. It is the

onlymemorial of its kind in the region. The centerpiece is a peaceful

water wall adornedwith plaques to honor the babies who have

passed away. A guardian angel statue overlooks thewall. Virtua is

honored to be able to open this unique garden to any family, whether

or not they were a Virtua patient, to create amemorial for their child.
