Our goal is patient care and Virtua
has taken the time to create programs
that we can really get behind. You are
willing to work with us to make sure
the funds we raise are allotted to the
programs we believe in.”
COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Virtua Foundation is deeply honored by the support we receive from our
various Community Partners that fundraise on our behalf. Their dedication
is often driven by the personal experience they or their loved ones have had
with the talented and caring physicians, nurses and staff throughout Virtua.
Today, we offer special thanks to the Community Partners that provide
meaningful support to our patients fighting against all forms of cancer.
The Tyanna
Foundation
The Tyanna Foundation’s
mission is to increase
awareness and raise money
for breast cancer research,
services, education,
treatment and patient care. Each year, the foundation hosts
BreastFest in four states, where the founding members, the
O’Brien sisters, each live. The proceeds support breast cancer
patients and local organizations.
The event features day-long live music, food, vendors and
special activities for kids. It’s an atmosphere the sisters know
their mother, Tyanna Barre O’Brien, would have loved. The event
is infused with laughter and entertainment, but also carries a
very serious message that encourages women of all ages to be
aware of this disease and helps them face a diagnosis with
courage and knowledge.
Since 2009, BreastFest New Jersey has generated more than
$68,000 in proceeds that benefit patients at Virtua. The funds
support early detection and the Breast Care Comfort Fund.
“The Tyanna Foundation is proud to partner with Virtua to
support the patients who are affected by breast cancer in our
community,” Sara O’Brien said. “We can see firsthand how
the dollars are making a difference in the lives of the people
we love.”
Ott’s Restaurants
For several years, the owners
of Ott’s Restaurants, located
throughout South Jersey,
have hosted an annual golf
outing to raise funds for a
variety of charities
throughout the community. When a cancer diagnosis hit close
to home, the owners chose to direct their support to Virtua
Foundation. Michelle Wagner, wife of Bob Wagner from Ott’s
Restaurants, received outstanding care when she fought breast
cancer recently. In recognition of that care, and in an effort to
support the many other families who face this diagnosis each
year, the funds from the annual Ott’s golf outing support the
Breast Care Comfort Fund. Over the past three years, Ott’s,
along with the many participants in their annual outing, has
donated more than $39,000 to Virtua Foundation to help
provide the highest level of comfort to patients in need.
Marlton
Street Hockey
For the third consecutive year,
the Marlton Street Hockey
Association, part of the
Marlton Recreation Council,
raised significant funds from
its annual Hockey Carnival. The day-long street hockey
tournament and carnival is dedicated to supporting women with
breast cancer in their local community. Inspired by a former
member of the league whose grandmother was treated at Virtua
for breast cancer, the Marlton Street Hockey League has raised
more than $20,000 to help support patients fromMarlton that
rely on Virtua for care.
Cinnaminson
Fire Department
In response to their business
administrator’s diagnosis of
cancer, the Cinnaminson Fire
Department rallied together
to support Jean Dietrick and
generate meaningful dollars to support patients with breast
cancer. Specially-designed t-shirts were sold throughout the
community, and the proceeds from their fundraiser were
donated to support the Virtua Fox Chase Cancer Program.
They presented the check of $2,000 to Virtua Foundation in
support of the Breast Care Comfort Fund, which provides head
coverings, scarves, and medicinal and transportation costs to
women battling breast cancer.
