Slated to open later this year, the Camden Family Health &Wellness Center will offer expanded and affordable outpatient primary care, dental care, podiatry, specialized medicine, physical therapy, lab testing, community education opportunities and more to residents who have limited or no other resources for these services. In addition to supporting the new health center, contributions from the 2018Virtua Gala will also strengthen innovativeVirtua programs that meet the specific needs of Camden residents. These include C.A.S.T.L.E. (Children Achieving SuccessThrough Therapeutic Life Experiences), which gives children facing emotional or behavioral challenges the tools they need to build self-esteem and master life skills; a new Pediatric Mobile Services Unit that will bring health and screening services directly to children in their own neighborhoods (for more information, see pages 2 and 3); and a Mobile Farmers Market that puts fresh fruits and vegetables within reach for Camden families. Longtime Camden resident Jesmarie Figueroa grew up using several of Virtua’s community programs and says they changed her life—and now, her two sons obtain services through these programs, too. “If Virtua weren’t here, I wouldn’t be as strong as I am today,” Figueroa says.
