Virtua Impressions 2018

6 March 3, 2018 is a date the Virtua community won’t soon forget. That evening, more than 1,000 of our closest friends joined us at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa for the Virtua Gala, where they enjoyed a gourmet dinner followed by dancing to live music from Kool & the Gang and the Eddie Bruce Orchestra. As much fun and entertainment as this annual social and fundraising event provides, the hallmark of the Gala is its impact on crucial healthcare initiatives across the region.This year’s proceeds totaled more than $1.1 million to benefit Virtua’s new Camden Family Health &Wellness Center. Additionally, proceeds will support the expansion of essential programs and services Virtua offers in Camden, whose residents are among the nation’s most vulnerable and in-need populations. Time and time again, research has shown that poverty leads to poor health. Many individuals and families in low-income areas such as Camden are faced with obstacles including unemployment, addiction, crime, and limited access to necessities such as reliable transportation, nutritious foods and quality healthcare—all of which increase the likelihood that they will experience acute and chronic health conditions.The Camden community is one in which the needs are immense but persistently unmet. For more than a century, Virtua has worked to improve health and wellness throughout Camden.
